Asking for help with money may not be something that is comfortable for you. You may already feel guilty about needing financial help and would prefer to avoid those conversations since they sometimes lead to arguments. At the same time, you recognize that you aren’t doing well right now and maybe you could use a professional.

If the only thing holding you back from contacting me is asking your parents to help with the fees, then let’s talk. This is the stage of life where you are starting to have more responsibility about your own healthcare. But it’s an odd situation since you may not be fully in charge of your healthcare finances. Believe me- you aren’t alone.

Also, see FAQ about Out of Network Benefits.

First, call the number for member questions on the back of your card and ask if your policy has any Out of Network coverage for outpatient individual counseling with an LCSW. The answer will either be:

  1. No
  2. Yes but after you meet a deductible
  3. Yes and it starts right away

If yes, ask for the details on getting reimbursed. They will either have an online or printable form for you to fill out and send in to them. At the end of each month, my billing system will email you a statement that you send in with their form as proof of what you have paid me. If you are getting an reimbursement it will take a few weeks to get to you.

Sessions last 50-60 minutes. I typically meet with clients weekly. Over time we can discuss decreasing the frequency of sessions to biweekly or monthly.

95% of my sessions are online. I use a secure platform called Telehealth by Simple Practice. It can be accessed by computer, phone, or tablet. It is similar to Zoom.

If you are local to the Nashville area I do offer occasional in-person Walk and Talk sessions when weather allows.

Brainspotting clients can try the online format. If you find you would prefer in person sessions, I can assist with finding the right person for you.

Yes. Not all Brainspotting providers are comfortable utilizing the method in a Zoom-type session. Since my sessions are all virtual I made sure it was a method that was going to work well for me, my practice, and my clients. My trainers have been using Brainspotting with clients for years online with excellent results.

Possibly. I am only licensed in the state of Tennessee so my individual counseling clients must be located in Tennessee as well.

For those outside of Tennessee, I have other coaching services I can offer. Contact me for more details.

I have worked with many clients over the years and while it is helpful any time, I find the 20s and 30s to be an ideal time to work on your mental health. When you are in your 20s you are able to work through present day situations that are influenced by past experiences AS WELL AS setting yourself up for long term success as a healthy, happy, well balanced person. My clients in their 40s and 50s often tell me they regret waiting so long to find the right therapist for them. So yes, the investment of time and money into your mental health right now is needed. It is proactive and it’s wise. You will always know someone who has it worse. I hope those people get help too. Maybe they need you to set the example for them. Also, it can be crucial to address your struggles before they pile up. You aren’t helping yourself or anyone else by waiting until you are overwhelmed to start therapy. Let’s start now.

I adhere to the NASW Code of Ethics which does not allow those working in our field to solicit testimonials or reviews for marketing purposes. At some point, reviews of my work may show up online. If so, they were posted as a decision of the individual. There is no way to guarantee that the posts are made by actual clients.

Please know that in general, online reviews of mental health services are very tricky. The work we do is very personal to each individual so I encourage you to give a mental health provider a try but use your best judgement about their expertise being right for your situation.
